3 weeks of life......

Well, it has already been three weeks since Adalyn was born and she has changed so much already! We have had a lot of visitors and even though she isn't normally awake when they come, I know she has enjoyed meeting everyone, lol. This week has been a lot better than the last two for me because I'm finally starting to feel more like myself. I am getting around a lot better and it has been nice to get out of the house more on my own. Adalyn loves riding in the car:) We went to Grandma Ingrahams for the first time because it was Grandpas birthday. Adalyn enjoyed looking around and taking in everything and everyone. If she only knew how loved she was!!

Nights are still going pretty good. The most she gets up is twice to eat and other than that she might wine a little if her binky falls out, but then she goes right back to sleep. She has spoiled us so far, so we will see what happens as she gets older.

It is so fun seeing her learn and grow everyday. She is starting to hold her neck up real well and it's so cute when she just stares at your face. Another thing she enjoys is rocking in her glider when I read to her. I know she doesn't understand, but she loves looking at the pictures. Oh and her dad has already starting spoiling her with his massages. Everytime he comes home from work, he picks her up and massages her back. She makes the cutest lil noises and you can tell she loves it. We are adapting pretty good as a family and the animals are getting used to having Adalyn around. They all can be a handfull at times, but I wouldn't change it for the world. I love everyone of them!!

Almost 2wks old already......

Well, it has been 13 days since little Adalyn joined our family. It has went pretty quick, but my healing is going slow, so we are still kind of hanging low at the house. We have went out on little outings here and there, but nothing too extreme. Knock on wood........she has been a wonderful baby. Even the first night home, she only woke up once bc of hunger and then went right back to sleep. Last night, I even had to wake her up bc it had been over 5 hours since she ate anything. During the day, she is also good. She will have her eyes open just looking around without even crying. I'm sure a lot it is because she is still so young and tired:) Sunday, we went to Holly Photography and got some naked baby pictures of her. She did a real good job and they turned out cute (with only one blow out on the black sheet, lol). Adalyn has been pretty popular during her short time here. She has a lot of people come to visit her, but she loves it. Being a mother is challenging but I am really enjoying it. It is going to be hard going back to work in 8 wks, but I have a pretty good schedule with only 30 hours and they are pretty flexible. I can get the best of both worlds that way:) Well, there isn't too much more that has happened but I'm just loving this time we have and seeing her lil face makes everything seem okay. Looking back on everything makes me realize what I miracle this all this. I would have never imagined having a daughter as perfect as her (I am biased though). My plan is to continue to update this at least weekly, but once we are fully recovered, I am sure there will be more interesting things to talk about. There are more pictures on her website, http://www.hollyfreyphotography.blogspot.com/ and scroll down to Adalyn Jarchow:)

Our baby girl has arrived.........

Well, I haven't wrote in this much throughout my pregnancy, but we wanted to start it back so we can look back at all the memories with Adalyn.
The whole pregnancy went pretty good. The only concern throughout was my size. The doctor ordered me to get non-stress tests once a week bc I was always measuring small so he wanted to make sure the baby was healthy.
I was due on Dec. 31st, so when my Jan. 4th appt. came around, the doctor suggested I be induced on Jan. 6th. Well, Adalyn had her own plans. Tuesday around 1pm, I wasn't feeling well and contracting a little here and there. By the time 3pm came around, they were stronger. I was by myself bc Brent had class until 8pm. I called him and told him that I was timing them and they were real painful. I told him I would wait till he got home to go to L&D bc I know they send people home that aren't dialated enough and I would rather go through the pain at home. Brent got home and we packedup and left.
We got to the hospital and I was 6cm dialated. Here we go!!!! Well, it was about 9pm by the time we got to our room and everything was going well. By 1am, they thought I would progress more with an epidural because I would relax more. An hour later I was 100% and 10cm dialated. 3am they said I could start pushing (thinking it wouldn't take too long). Well, as the nurses were saying, my bones were very narrow and that was going to give me a hard time. It was a horrible next 5 hours and after about 3 I thought for sure they would want me to have a c section. They knew I didn't want a c section, so the nurses were keeping me positive. They normally don't want people to push that long, but Adalyn was strong and wasn't showing any distress. I was also doing fine vital-wise, but I felt like I was slowly dying, lol! The doctors changed shifts at about 7:45am, so my doctor (McDonnell) came in and wanted to get her out because it was way too long. He had to use the forsups (little did I know it would make healing a lot longer), but I was so ready for him to do whatever he had to. Oh and I didn't mention that they had to turn the epidural off, so the worst pain, I felt for the last hour!! It was a lot different than what I expected, but it was so worth it. Adalyn finally arrived at 8:02am at 7lb 9ozs (small?? I think not) and 20.5 inches long. She was perfect and it was so nice to finally meet her. We are home healing and enjoying eachother now. She is a great baby so far and we love her!!!
